Let Perimeter of rectangle be P and length and breadth be L and B respectively.

We know that,

\sf P= 2(L+B)

So it will be equal to

\sf P= 2L + 2B.....(1)

Now, by (1), we can make the formula:-

\sf 2L= P-2B

Or

\sf L = \dfrac{P}{2} - B

Proof:-

Suppose,

Perimeter of the rectangle is 14cm and it's breadth is 3cm.

Find its length.

Using this formula,

L = P÷2- B

L=14÷2-3

L=7-3

L=4

Therefore, the formula are:-

2L= P - 2B

Or

\sf L = \dfrac{P}{2}-B

Additional Information:-

The same thing, what we did above, can be applied for breadth as well. If we have to find breadth, when length and Perimeter are given, we can do it by replacing the B with L.

Hope it helps
