large\red{\fbox{\rm{In\: Transverse\: wave}}}

Frequency of a sound wave basically means the number of crests and troughs in a unit time. (usually a second)

large\blue{\fbox{\rm{In\: Longitudinal\: wave}}}

If it is longitudinal wave than frequency means the number of compressions and rarefactions in unit time (usually a second) (the crests and troughs will occur here only if you drawn a graph)

Answer:

Frequency of sound wave is the rate of the vibration of the sound traveling in the air.

Frequency decides whether a sound is perceived as high pitched or low pitched.

The SI Unit of Frequency is hertz. (Hz)

Frequency = 1/T ( where T = time period)
