the full form is public intrest litigation ,it was indroduced in early 1980`s in the supreme court .it allowed any individual to file a PIL in the high court or the supreme court on behalf of those whose rights were violated .even a letter or a telegram adressed to the supreme court or the high court could e treated as a PIL.
