A rectifier is an electrical device that converts alternating current to direct current.

FUNCTION OF RECTIFIER

Converting AC current into pulsating DC current.

AC current travels in both directions. When it meets a rectifier, it will now travel in one direction. However, that’s the only difference. It is still pulsating.

In order to have a consistent voltage so that way the electricity does not fluctuate, you will still need to apply other electrical components to the newly created pulsating DC current. These components include filters and regulator circuits. This gives you a Power Supply.

A power supply combines all these components together to convert AC current to a consistent flatlined DC current. This consistent current delivers a consistent power to an appliance or anything else you can plug into an AC current outlet on a wall. One that needs AC current to stop fluctuating and become a consistent source of the same amount of power.
