there may be a fault in appliance
and a person can get an electric shock.
in this situation earth wire will help to transfer much amount of current into the ground.

Earthing wire is used in appliances which require high voltage current and have metallic bodies. When ever there is excess amount of current passing through the appliance, overflow of charge occurs. This charge may get over the surface of the appliance ans you may get an electric shock. To prevent this the earthing wire removes the excess current and deliver it to earth.
