The Biological Function of Gastric Juice:

Gastric juice is a unique combination of hydrochloric acid (HCl), lipase, and pepsin. Its main function is to inactivate swallowed microorganisms, thereby inhibiting infectious agents from reaching the intestine.

Gastric juice has three components:-

Hydrochloric acid:-

  • Its function is to make food medium acidic for the pepsin to act.
  • Its another function is to kill the germs that came along with the food.

Mucus:-

  • Its function is to protect the lining of the stomach from harmful effects of the acid....

Pepsin:-

  • Its function is to digest proteins....( to convert peptide to peptones.... this is not necessary to be written....)
