Hassall's corpuscles are present in the medulla region of thymus . They are made up of tiers of epithelium.

Hassall's corpuscles along with other cells like Nurse cells, Cortico-epithelial cells, Medullary epithelial cells together contribute to the maturation of T cells in the Thymus.

However the exact role of Hassall's corpuscles is unknown.

The function of Hassall's corpuscles is currently unclear, and the absence of this structure in the murine thymus has restricted mechanistic dissection. It is known that Hassall's corpuscles are a potent source of the cytokine TSLP.
