The iris is a thin, circular structure in the eye, responsible for controlling the diameter and size of the pupil and thus amount of light reaching the retina.

Hope it helpful

Answer:

Iris acts as the aperture manager of the eye. It is a group of circular and longitudinal muscles, which work alternately changing the pupil.

Explanation:

A pupil is an aperture through which light enters the internal of the eye.

  • During the distant vision, the pupil becomes narrower as iris contracts.
  • And during the near vision, the pupil becomes large as iris relaxes.

So, the size of the pupil while regulating the light is controlled by the iris.
