The mitral valve opens to increased pressure as the left atrium fills with blood. Blood flows through into the left ventricle as the heart expands (diastole). It then closes as the heart contracts (systole) and forces blood into the aorta. This process is vital to the heart's function

normal function of the mitral valve the is the one of the valve in four valves in heart it regulates blood flow from the upper left chamber into the lower left chamber you know that the Heart is pumping chamber a normal mitral valves have two flaps or leaflets..... hope it's help you
