Pepsin is the enzyme which is found in stomach, produced by gastric gland called cheif cells. It is named pepsinogen in inactive form.It is activated by HCl (Hydrochloric acid)
and then it names Pepsin.[HCl also creates food acidic to act pepsin on food. HCl also kills harmful bacteria which enters with food]

Pepsin acts on food to digest protein into simpler form [Protein further simplified into intestine by Trypsin enzyme].

heya !!!

■PEPSIN is produced by GASTRIC GLANDS in stomach .

■Glands in the stomach produce and store an inactive form of pepsin called PEPSINOGEN.

■Pepsinogen reacts with stomach acid or HCL and becomes active enzyme called PEPSIN .

■Pepsin partially DIGESTS PROTEINS into smaller unit called PEPTIDES .

■It works best at highly acidic pH between 1.5 and 2.5 .

hope it helps u dear ^_^
