the eyes spot in chlamydomonas is red in colours due to the presence of haematochrome. this red eyespot is a photosensitive spot which permits the algae to the areas of moderate light intensity and is ideal for normal metabolism.

HimaniBaghel: does this red spot help in the determination of day or night ?
sweety304: day
HimaniBaghel: OK........thank you
