Function:

  The basic function of corona radiata is that the nerve fibers of it carry information between the brain cells of the cerebral cortex (the outer part of the cerebrum), and the brain cells in the stem of brain.

But corona radiata can be damaged by a stroke involving small branches of blood vessels.

This type of stroke is called as "lacunar stroke".
