QUESTION :-

Find the HCF of 40 and 96

SOLUTION :-

There are many ways to find the HCF of 40 and 96

so here I'm using EUCLID'S DIVISION ALGORITHM

According to this

a = bq + r

Here

a = 96 and b = 40

96 = 40 x 2 + 16

Here again

a = 40 and b = 16

40 = 16 x 2 + 8

Here again

a = 16 and b = 8

16 = 8 x 2 + 0

So 8 is the HCF of 40 and 96

OTHER METHOD :-

prime factorization method :-

40 = 2 x 2 x 2 x 5

96 = 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 3

Here

HCF = 2 x 2 x 2 = 8

raziansari7451com: wrong answer please done in prime factorization method.

We know that HCF means highest factor among the given factor

so highest factor

40=2×2×2×5

96=2×2×2×2×2×3

we take only

2^3=8 ( common factor among both term)

Hope it helps u^_^
