Heating effect of electric current is also called Joule's law of heating. It states that when current is passed through a resistance wire or conductor, it's resistance resist the flow of current through it and produces heat. This is used in the working of electric heater, geaser and electric fuse. When the amount of current flowing through a conductor exceeds the safe limit, the fuse melts(due to the heating effect of current) and breaks the circuit.
