ClF3 has two different Cl-F bond lengths, much like PF5 and PCl5 do. The equatorial Cl-F bond is 1.60 angstroms long, while the two axial Cl-F bonds are 1.70 angstroms long. Normally, if we used VSEPR theory with this molecule, we would have seen dsp3 hybridization.
