Glial Cell support Neurons and provide them Nutrition. They have many task. For each task they are of many types:-

1. Oligodendrocyte=> Myelinate Neurons of Central Nervous System.

2. Astrocytes=> It makes the blood brain barrier and also check control on blood flow.

3. Schwann Cell=> Myelination in peripheral nervous system. They are also called Neurilemma. It forms Myelin sheath around neuron's axon.

4. Satellite Cell=> Satellite glial cells are glial cells that cover the surface of nerve cell bodies in sensory, sympathetic, and parasympathetic ganglia.

5. Microglia=> It is the type of Glial cell that is found throughout the Brain and Spinal Cord. They active the immune defence in Central Nervous System.

Answer:

What is the importance of glial cells in nervous tissues?

Explanation:

  • What is glial cells? Glial cells are also known as neurological cells and it have the structural role with the central nervous system. It also regulates nerve firing rate and immune responses.
  • They provide support and protection to the neurons.
  • They also maintain homeostasis, cleaning debris and forming myelin.
  • Neurological cells are small than the neurons. Approximately 85 billion glia cells are present in human brain.
  • In earlier research glial cells as the glue of the nervous system.
  • They also active the immune defense in central nervous system.
  • The basic three function of glial cells are- to maintain homeostasis, to form myelin in the peripheral nervous system and also to provide support and protect the neurons.

Hence, glial cells are important.
