Holi is one of the most significant Hindu festivals. Also know as the 'festival of colours', Holi signifies the triumph of good over evil.

Holi also celebrates the Hindu god Krishna and the legend of Holika and Prahlad. Hiranyakashipu was an evil king. He had special powers that made him nearly invincible and he wanted everyone in his kingdom to worship him. Prahlad was safe and Vishnu then defeated the evil king.

It is believed that Lord Krishna used to celebrate holi with colors and hence popularized the same. He used to play holi with his friends at Vrindavan and Gokul. They used to play pranks all across the village and thus made this a community event. Holi is a spring festival to say goodbye to winters.
