Kate was twelve years old. She was tall, lanky, very intelligent and very beautiful. She was the only daughter of Governor Lewis and the last born among the three children that her parents gave birth to. She was the apple of her father’s eye so they were almost always together even at her father’s eye so they were almost always together even at her father’s very important meetings and travelling- both within and outside the country. It was a common and true saying in the government house and governor’s office that whoever needs the governor’s help should seek it through his daughter- Kate and that it would be granted in no time.
Kate and her brothers were studying abroad but they were always at home in Nigeria during long breaks and holidays. At the time, she was the only Nigerian at Princeton College in London (A school where only the extremely wealthy people alone can send their children to. Not even many white men that could afford the staggering fees but the governor did because he said nothing is comparable to a good first class education).
After a long winter vacation, she was returning to school in her father’s private jet one day. The aircraft just left the airport and was about to exit the country when some its controls suddenly failed for no apparent reason despite the fact that it had been tested and rated okay before takeoff. The pilots battled with the controls, hoping to be able to bring the ai
