The state functions are very important in the thermodynamics since the subject is concerned with the initial and final state but independent of connecting 2 state.




The feasibility of any process can be thermodynamically predicated from the changes in the states functions during the process since they are independent of the path used for the changes.



For an example if free energy change dG is - ve the process is spontaneous while if dG is +ve the process is non - spontaneous.
