what is the irony of the poem the rime of ancient mariner

The irony of this poem is given in  the ninth stanza..

"Water Water Everywhere

nor a drop to drink"

That is the ship was surrounded by water from all sides and the mariners were very thirst but they coudln't drink even a single drop of water.
