What is the IUPAC name of CH3-CH(OH)-CH2-CHO ?

kvnmurty: 3-HydroxyButanal this is the IUPAC name.
TPS: When a functional group is attached at the end, we generally start the numbering from there. Hence it always gets the first position. So instead of butan-1-al, we write simply butanal. Both are correct.
