-latitudinal extend refers to the angular distance.
-it is in degrees south or north to the equator and it is equal to the angle of the center of the globe.
-the latitudinal extent of india is  8o 4' 28" N to 37o 17' 53" N in which it influences the duration of day and night as one moves from north to south.
-nepal is a land locked country. It lies between latitudes 26* and 31* N, and 80* and 88* E.
-it is important because when we move towards the pole the extent between two longitudes decreases that means they come closer.
-this is however not in case for latitudes.though the numerical differences between latitudes and longitudes is same in india it covers more land from north to south as compared to east to west.
