 Intestine of herbivores is lengthier than that of carnivores. Herbivores consume cellulose based food and it takes longer time to absorb nutrients from cellulose. Carnivores have shorter intestines as they can absorb nutrients from the meat at faster rate. Small intestine is specifically longer in human beings and herbivores as it is very much necessary to absorb the nutrients to the maximum level from the food before it is passed on to large intestine. b) Gastric glands also secrete lipase called as gastric lipase. They do not actually digest fats but emulsify the fats in the presence of HCl in the stomach.Renin is the milk curdling enzyme present in only human infants as they rely on milk for nutrition. It is also abundantly present in calf gastric juice.
