Limnetic zone is a zone in lake where light reaches in sufficient amount to entire surface area. This zone is not too deep.
The P/R ratio is greater than 1.
Phytoplanktons, free-floating plants, submerged plants etc are found in this zone.
Littoral zone is the zone found at the bank of the lake where very shallow water or marshy land is present. Rooted fixed plants are found here. It is an example of ecotone area. Here P/R ratio is 1.
