Ajanta is primarily a Buddhist cave and Ellora is a combination of Buddhist, Hindu and Jain caves. Ajanta is a collection of 26 caves built around a horse-shoe shaped mountain about 100 KM away from Aurangabad, and Ellora is a collection of 34 caves about 30 KM out of Auranagabad.
