Ashok Singh director, DLB, said, "As per the municipal act there is a provision of 33 % women reservation in urban local bodies' election. In 2009, the reservation for women was increased from 33% to 50%. Since the Supreme Court has stayed the increased reservation, this time quota will be same."
Once the delimitation process completes, the number of wards in Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) will increase from 77 to 91. As per the 33% women reservation, there will be around 31 women ward councillors in the new board.
In the present board, out of 77 ward councillors 38 are women. Out of which there are 24 BJP women councillors and 14 Congress councillors
