The Mainland In India
- Mainland in India is the territory of India that is located on the Asian continental mainland. This comprises all the portions of India except for the Union Territories of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep, furthermore the Indian polar research stations of Bharati, Dakshin Gangotri, Himadri, IndARC and Maitri.
- Mainland is the territories that are located on the continental mainland. Boundary lines which are commonly known as property lines define the extent of the legitimate limits of possession of any parcel of land.
- Due to more than 99% of the land of India and the population being on the mainland itself, politically and historically, the phrase has little significance. It is mainly used by the inhabitants outside mainland India, and by unskilled radio operators as the provinces outside the mainland have various call-sign blocks.
