The most widely used Embryo rescue procedure is referred to as embryo culture, and involves excising plant embryos and placing them onto media culture. Embryo rescue is most often isedto create interspecific and intergeneric crosses that would normally produce seeds which are aborted.

It is the procees of excision of young embryos from developing seeds and their cultivation on a nutient medium is known as embryo culture.

Aim of embryo culture:- The main aim of embryo culture is that it allows young embryos to develop into complete seedlings and Overcoming Hybridization bariers.

Applications of embryo culture:-

1. It is used in interspecilic crosses

2. Seeds of some plants like orchid lack stored food. So in this type of cases embryo culture allows seedling development from the embryos.

3. Same method can be also used for rapid clonal propagation in orchid and some other plants.
