1,000x.

A compound light microscope has its own light source and more than one lens at a time.

There are objective lenses on rotating nose pieces very near to a specimen and ocular lenses are there in the binocular eyepieces.

The first compound light microscope was developed by Zacharias Jansen in 1595 that made by collapsing tubes and it produced a magnification of 9x only.

Since that time compound microscopes have come a long way.
