Alkaline phosphatase[ALP] is an enzyme present in various tissues but most abundant in liver and bones. ALP perform many functions in the body including break down of proteins and development of bones. High alkaline phosphate refers to the condition when Alkaline phosphatase level exceeded than normal level [25-145 units/liter] in the blood. There are many reasons may cause a rise in the level of alkaline phosphatase like damage of liver, abnormal bone cell activity. ALP test is used to determine the level of alkaline phosphatase enzyme in the blood.
