metaphor is comparing things indirectly without usage of the words like and as
example:
he plants a friend of sun and sky
(from the poem "the heart of the tree" )
here tree is told as a friend of sun and sky but it is not really a friend.....the poet wants to convey that tree is related to sun n sky and they help each other's mutually
