When Plants use inorganic components such as water from roots and CO2 from the air to form glucose( C6H12O6) , water and O2 in presence of chlorophyll and sunlight is called photosynthesis. Chlorophyll helps in trapping sunlight. this sunlight gets converted into chemical energy and decomposes water into hydrogen and oxygen by the process of photolysis. This hydrogen combines with CO2 to form carbohydrates and O2 gets released as a by product.

6CO2+ 12H2O ---->C6H12O6 + 6O2+ 6H2O
