According to Plate Tectonics, Earth's outer shell is divided into several plates that move or glide over Earth's mantle.
They (The plates) can also be stated as very hard and rigid shell, and more tough than mantle.
Plate tectonics involve movement of plates forming new landmasses or destroying old ones. They are also stated as the reason for Earthquakes and After quakes.
