Hii friend,
Subsidiary Alliance was introduced by Wellesley.
In subsidiary alliance one ruler had to maintain British troops in him kingdom by paying for the maintenance of the troops or by giving some portion of the territory to the British. This allowed the British to maintain a large army at the expense of the local rulers. The original rulers were no longer allowed to fight or sign any treaty with others on their own decision.
