What is the meaning of the line -for man may come and men may go but I go on forever

This line is meant as the life of man is transient ( lasting for only a short period of time ) but the brook's life is everlasting .

Its mean that men may born and die after few years and also human being are mortal but the brook once takes birth it does not die because before its death, it goes and joins the brimming river and becomes a part of it and it is immortal.
