In the poem "The Character of a Happy Life" written by Henry Wotton, the poet speaks about the traits of a happy life. He says that a person who is well educated, trustworthy and honest in his thoughts and has no fear of losing his life is the person who is the happiest in the world. Also, the person is neither jealous nor a flatterer. A happy person enjoys the company of a good friend and also shows his interest in religious books. Although he is not the owner of anything but posses everything.
In the line:
"Whose state can neither flatterers feed,"
the poet says that a person is happy when he donot feeds anyone with flattery or do not flatters anyone for his own good.
