Trachea is the wind pipe which helps in the transportation of air from the nasal chamber to the lungs and from the lungs back to the nasal chamber. It is made of cartilaginous C shaped fibres which prevents it from collapsing. It consists of a mucus lining and is ciliated inside.

The Trachea (also called windpipe) is a wide, hollow, cartilagenous tube that connects the larynx (voice box) to the bronchi of the lungs. It is an integral part of the body’s airway and has the vital function of providing air flow to and from the lungs for respiration.it measures about 11 cm. in length; its diameter, from side to side, is from 2 to 2.5 cm.
