Non-periodic motion : The motion which does not repeat itself after regular interval of time is called non-periodic motion. Examples : A footballer running on a field, application of brakes in a moving vehicle, a ball rolling down the ground gradually slows down and finally stops, motion of tides in the sea, etc.

Periodic motion, in physics, motion repeated in equal intervals of time. Periodic motion is performed, for example, by a rocking chair, a bouncing ball, a vibrating tuning fork, a swing in motion, the Earth in its orbit around the Sun, and a water wave.

Answer:

A motion repeating itself at regular intervals is regarded as periodic motion. For eg:

changing phases of the moon, beating of heart, clock striking an hour are all examples of periodic motion.

A motion that repeats itself is considered a non-periodic motion but not at regular periods of time. For eg:

A footballer running on a field, application of brakes in a moving vehicle, water becoming ice, burning of matchstick etc are non periodic changes.

Hope it helps!
