Median is the middlemost observation in a given set of data.

Given: Observations.

To find: The median.

Answer:

Observations: 7, 12, 15, 6 and 20.

In ascending order: 6, 7, 12, 15 and 20.

Median = (n + /2), where n = the number of observations.

NOTE: The above formula is only to be used when n = an odd number.

n = 5

Median = (5 + 1/2)

Median = (6/2)

Median = 3rd term

Median = 12
