There are three main stages in the life cycle of a frog :-

Egg Tadpole ( Larva ) → Adult frog

The female adult frog lays hundreds of eggs in water. These are clumped together with jelly like substance are called spawn. The male frog releases sperms, which fertilizes the eggs when the two come in the contact. Te frog spawn you see floating in ponds made up of thousands of individual eggs; the black spot is the developing embryo. This embryo feeds on the jelly that is around it until it is ready to hatch. These eggs hatch int tadpoles that looks totally different from an adult frog. it looks like a fish, has gills for breathing and lacks limbs and lungs, unlike an adult frog. Over time, they undergo several changes to finally become a frog. They develop the mouth, eyes, lungs, limbs and slowly lose their tails and fins.

There are four main stages in the life cycle of a Butterfly.

Egg → Caterpillar → Pupa → Adult Butterfly

The lays fertilized eggs on the undersurface of leaves. The eggs hatch and a worm- like caterpillar comes out. It feeds voraciously on the leaves and grows in size. After a few days, the body become shorter and thicker; it stops feeding and spins a cocoon around itself. This resting stage is called the Pupa or chrysalis stage. Many changes occur inside the cocoon. Later, the adult Butterfly emerges from the cocoon and flies away.
