The power factor is always represented by the term cosΦ.

The minimum value of power factor is zero. This occurs in both pure capacitors and inductors where Φ = 90°. [cos90° = 0]

The maximum value of power factor is one. This occurs in pure resistors where
Φ = 0°. [cos0° = 1]

The minimum value of power factor is zero.  It occurs in a purely inductive circuit.

The maximum value of power factor is one.  It occurs in a pure resistor circuit.

As in AC circuits, the power factor is the ratio of the real power that is used to do work and the apparent power that is supplied to the circuit.

So, power factor lies within a range from 0 to 1.

Hope this will help you.
