Explanation:

The farmer and his wife have a young son and decide to keep a mongoose as a pet. Six months later, the mongoose grows to its full size while the baby is still small. The farmer's wife is concerned that the mongoose might harm the baby in some way. She is always careful and doesn't leave the baby eith the mongoose alone.

Once, after returning from the market, she finds that the mongoose's mouth is smeared with blood. She thinks it has killer her baby and throws the heavy grocery bag on the mongoose. She then runs to check on her baby to find the baby fine and healthy, while a dead snake was on the floor next to the baby.

The mongoose had infact protected the baby by killing the snake. She finds the mongoose dead. The farmer's wife is filled with sadness, grief and repentance on killing the mongoose. He hasty decision had cost them a friendly, caring compsnion.
