  • The "Swadeshi Movement" was officially "proclaimed" on 7th August in the year 1905 at the "Calcutta Town Hall", Bengal. "Boycott movement" was also launched together with the Swadeshi movement"
  • The movts involved using goods which were produced in India & burning "British-made goods". Bal Gandadhar Tilak had encouraged & supported the  "Swadeshi & Boycott movement" after the British govt decided the Bengal partition .
  • The "Swadeshi" "Steam Navigation" "Company (SSNC)" was one of the 1st indigenous "Indian shipping companies" that was  set up at the time of the "Indian independence movement". This company was set up to to compete against the "monopoly" of the "British India" "Steam Navigation Company" (BISNC)".
