molarity ( M ) = mole / liter
=> mass of NaOH = 40
given mass = 20
solution in liter = 500/ 1000
=> 0.5 l
now molarity = 20 / 40 / 0.5
=> 1 / 2× 0.5
=> 1 / 1
=> 1
now , normality ( N) = M × Valency
Valency of NaOH= 1
hence , N = 1
