Reduction is the name of that process in which oxygen is removed.

The reduction process includes a half-response wherein a synthetic animal variety diminishes its oxidation number, normally by acquiring electrons. The other portion of the reaction includes oxidation, in which electrons are lost. Together, oxidation and reduction structure redox reactions “(reduction-oxidation = redox)”. The reduction might be viewed as the contrary course of oxidation.
