Natural products are those materials which are found in nature. Modern industries process certain natural products and produce finished goods for human consumption.

Iron is a natural product used in the manufacture of steel. Almost 96% of steel consists of iron. Other natural products used in manufacture of steel are manganese, nickel, chromium, molybdenum etc., depending on the use to which the steel will be put to. Steel is used in defence, transport, housing, healthcare and many other fields.

Crude oil is another example of a natural product. In refineries, it is processed and converted to petrol, diesel, kerosene, liquefied petroleum gas, lubricants etc. Most of these are used as fuel while others are used as lubricants etc.
