Physical properties :
Carbon dioxide is colorless.
At low concentrations, the gas is odorless.
At higher concentrations it has a sharp, acidic odor.
At standard temperature and pressure, the density of carbon dioxide is around 1.98 kg/m3, about 1.67 times that of air.

Chemical properties :
The carbon dioxide molecule is linear and centrosymmetric.
Carbon dioxide is soluble in water, in which it reversibly forms H2CO3 (carbonic acid), which is a weak acid since its ionization in water is incomplete.
CO2 + H2OH2CO3
CO2 is a weak electrophile.
