What is the nature of the membranes covering the brain? What is the name

The covering of the brain is called Meninges, which has three layers or envelopes - 1) Pia Mater, 2) Dura Mater, 3) Arachnoid.

All the layers of meninges are composed of fibrous tissues. Pia mater and Arachnoid have thin membranes whereas Dura mater has thick membrane.

Cerebrospinal fluid is the fluid that fills the spaces between these membranes of meninges.

Cerebrospinal fluid gives protection to the central nervous system, that is to the spinal cord and brain.

It provides nutrition to nerve tissues.
