Thyroid peroxidase (TPO) antibodies are a marker for the presence of autoimmune thyroid disease.
# Normal range-
Thyroid peroxidase antibody (TPOAb): Less than 35 IU/mL
Blood test results for TPO antibodies are positive in following cases
- in 95% of patients with Hashimoto’s disease (chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis)
- in 50% to 80% of patients with Graves’ disease.
