SOLUTION

TO DETERMINE

The perpendicular distance of the point A (7,5) from the y axis

EVALUATION

Here the given point is A (7,5)

So

Abscissa = 7

Ordinate = 5

If we draw a perpendicular from A on y axis then the perpendicular intersects y axis at B(0,5)

So the required perpendicular distance

 \sf{ =  \sqrt{ {(7 - 0)}^{2} +  {(5 - 5)}^{2}  }  \:  \:  \: unit}

 \sf{ =  \sqrt{ {(7 )}^{2} +  {(0)}^{2}  }  \:  \:  \: unit}

 \sf{ = 7 \:  \:  \: unit}
